Martin D35 Brazilian Rosewood #247307 1969

Martin D35 Brazilian Rosewood #247307 1969

A vintage Martin D35 always attracts a lot of attention with its distinctive three-piece back, and as the icing on the cake, this 1969 example has also been exceptionally well maintained over the years. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful vintage guitars in our collection!

The Martin D35 originated in 1965, when Martin swapped the two-piece back for a three-piece one due to the small size of the available Brazilian rosewood pieces. Equipped with this striking feature, the D35 found a place between the iconic D28 and the more decorated guitars such as the D41 and D45. But when you have such a stunningly beautiful Brazilian rosewood back and sides, like this 1969 D35, you don't need much decoration!

Moreover, it gives this dreadnought a deep and balanced sound that demonstrates its power when strumming. Another important feature, however, was the lighter braces, making the Martin D35 the guitar with the most satisfying bass response at the time. The mahogany neck features a comfortable 'soft V' profile and is a joy to play.

The guitar is well-maintained; you can see it, feel it, and hear it! The body has undergone overspray and shines beautifully, and the pickguard and bridge have been replaced at some point. Inside the body, the well-known pickguard crack has been stabilized with a glued-in cleat.

Furthermore, a neck reset and a very neat refret were performed at some point, and the beautiful rounded ends of the frets immediately stand out. Additionally, the nut has been replaced and later raised, and the tuning machines were also replaced at one time. Currently, however, the original Grover Rotomatics adorn the headstock once again, though the old screw holes are still visible. The guitar also shows signs of wear and dings on the top, and part of the lacquer on the back of the neck has worn off due to use.
