Gibson LG2 Western

The Gibson Custom LG-2 Western is a modern interpretation of a beloved classic! Compact in size, big in sound, and equipped with specifications rarely found at this price point!

 

The compact body, featuring a mahogany back and sides with a spruce top, delivers a surprisingly full and direct tone, qualities that drew artists like Bob Dylan and Joan Baez to this model. While the original LG-2 often featured a mahogany top, partly due to material shortages during World War II, Gibson Custom opts here for an Adirondack Red Spruce top with traditionally hand-scalloped X-bracing.

 

Adirondack spruce is known for its stiffness and wide dynamic range: the guitar responds beautifully to a light touch, yet offers plenty of power and projection when played more aggressively. The mahogany body adds warmth and depth, with that characteristic direct, slightly dry tone so typical of this wood combination.

 

For players who also perform amplified, it is equipped with a built-in LR Baggs VTC piezo pickup.
