Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble Vintage Tobacco Burst Gloss

Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble Vintage Tobacco Burst Gloss

A classic 50s-style Les Paul Standard, now with an even more vintage look!

The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble offers all the features and performance of the regular Les Paul Standard 50s models, but with even more vintage charm. These limited-run versions differ from the standard models in two ways. First, the Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 pickups are not covered and are equipped with Double Classic White bobbins and the usual Alnico 2 magnets. The second difference is the finish.

The colors are vintage variations of the standard nitrocellulose lacquer. While the standard high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes are intended to mimic the look of brand-new examples from the 1950s, the high-gloss vintage finishes on the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble are subtly faded, similar to the light aging that occurs over several years. The burst patterns vary from guitar to guitar, as each body is spray-painted by hand.

Furthermore, all the familiar features that make the Les Paul Standard 50s so beloved are still present. Think solid, weight-relieved mahogany body with an AA figured maple top, and a beveled 50s mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and trapezoid inlays. The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble features a classic-style ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone knobs, and aged gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers.

The open Burstbucker 1 (neck) and Burstbucker 2 (bridge) are internally identical to the standard versions, with the exception of the Double Classic White bobbins. They are hand-built in the Gibson Pickup Shop, feature Alnico 2 magnets, and are hand-wired with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors. The Double Classic White bobbins and the vintage finishes give the Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble an elegant, authentic look. While they have a vintage look and an affordable price, production is limited to just 500 guitars per color. Availability is therefore limited, so choose your favorite model quickly while you can!
